
Michael George

Michael George is a four-time Emmy award winning journalist based in New York City. He currently works as a correspondent and anchor for CBS News.
George has reported live at the scene of major national events, including the George Floyd Black Lives Matter protests in Minneapolis, Hurricane Ida in New Orleans, and the aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot in Washington. He’s also extensively covered national politics, reporting live from the Biden inauguration in 2021, at Biden headquarters on Election Night 2020, and at Trump headquarters on Election Night 2016.

George believes people are at the heart of every story he covers, and he uses his storytelling to highlight memorable characters. His reporting from the scene of the mass shooting at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital earned him two New York Emmys for Breaking News and Spot News Reporting. He also earned a Suncoast Emmy for Investigative Reporting for his work locating missing children, and an Emmy for Education Reporting for exposing corruption in the for-profit college industry.

The son of immigrants, George is also an active member of the Asian-American Journalists Association and uses his reporting to highlight stories of representation.

In his personal time, George brings his passion for storytelling to his food blog, “Mike George Eats The World”. In it, George travels across New York City, trying to eat cuisine from every country on Earth - so far, he’s highlighted food from 122 countries!
